James Hartley:

James began his shooting career at the Cactus Match League in 1983 while attending Arizona State University. From January 1983 to May of 1983 he went from Tyro class to AA class in IPSC Stock Auto. He competed in the Arizona State Championship for the Cactus Match League in 1984, and represented California in the 1985 IPSC World Championship. During the 1986 through 1988 season he earned his Masters Class ranking in Stock Auto at the Cactus Match League. Since that time he has competed in several Soldier of Fortune World Three Gun Championships held in Las Vegas NV during the early 1990's. He was awarded the 1994 Shooter of the year award in Stock Auto from the Desert Sportsman's Rifle and Pistol Club.

In addition to his competitive experience he has also completed a number of NRA instructor qualifications and has been certified to be a CCW instructor in both Arizona and Nevada in the mid 1990's. As an instructor he was the owner and chief firearms instructor for his company, the original Nevada Shooters established in 1995. James has taught and qualified hundreds of students in both Clark and Nye counties. As an active instructor, he continued his firearms education through the NRA while remaining active as a competitor in tactical three gun competitions.

During the late 1990's James moved away from Nevada to pursue other interests obtaining a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Arkansas State University in 2004. Upon his return to Las Vegas in 2006, he has turned his interest to improving his skills by attending Gunsite Academy in Paulden AZ. He continues to take tactical training classes in order to improve his skills and to evaluate the teaching techniques of other schools.

Once again, his interest has returned to teaching the proper techniques for self defense in rifle, pistol, and shotgun, as well as preparing individuals in the skills they will need to survive deadly force encounters.  James reactivated Nevada Shooters to serve the self defense and survival training needs of all Citizens.
